If you do manage to get your game online with RPG Maker, you'd be one out of maybe a whopping 3 I've ever seen do this. Hacks are ways to circumvent software, in spite of encryption methods, and tools for hacking have been around long before the internet.ġ. And finally, cheat engines is a form of a hack. There is a tool I've heard that makes it possible to hide the music, but I don't know how effective this is.ħ. Most encryption methods will not hide the audio because of the way RPG Maker is set up and scripting needs to be able to read the audio unhindered. You can check around at commercial sites like Amaranth and Aldorlea, but I suspect those are provided by the portal itself for selling your game through them, and they may not be inclined to share their secrets.Ħ. There's no guarantee it will secure your game.ĥ. But given enough time, enough usage, and enough interest, it can be broken. All a newer encryption method is going to do is prevent people from breaking the game for an X amount of time. The more times an encryption method is used, the higher the chance it can be hacked. Depending on how hard it is to utilize or how complicated a script write-up is to ensure it works, you may have to compensate them in some way.Ĥ. If you can't handle this yourself, you'll now need to find somebody that can. If you do find one that seems adequate to you, you'll need to find a way to get it to work (usually through scripting). Since there are so many different types available and each one may require different settings to be tailored around your game, there's no simple plug and play solution that I'm aware of.ģ. Even on sites like RMW, it's a tough call, mainly because finding a better encryption means you need to have the program knowledge and scripting capabilities to be able to use it and get the maker to be able to read it. Most of the common hobbyists users you find in the communities won't ever use anything beyond the default encryption (if they even care to encrypt their game) and will have no idea of where to look and will be unable to help you. However, finding what encryption will work for you is like looking for needles in a haystack. Adding an extra layer of encryption means you'll need outside support, a third party software or add-on. There's a tool all across the internet that is easily accessible that will let you break it.Ģ. The encryption that comes with RPG Maker by default is already broken. The problem is RPG Maker not optimized (by default) for online play and adequate encryption, and trying to do either of these is a very daunting task:ġ.
